If enacted, federal employees and former employees would be able to get a copy of their official personnel file. If you are a current employee, your agency would have to send it within 7 days after you ask. If you leave on or after enactment, your agency would have to send it within 7 days of separation. If you left before enactment, you would request it from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM); OPM would have 21 days to send it after your request. Copies would be provided in both electronic and paper form.
