VA grants for veterans group halls
The VA can give grants to veterans service organizations to repair or rehab existing halls and upgrade or buy technology for those facilities. Grants cannot pay to build or buy a new facility. To apply, an organization chartered under federal law (title 36, part B) must send a plan and any other information the VA wants. The VA will pick projects by need, plan quality, and capacity to carry out the plan. A grant to any organization for a fiscal year may not exceed the greater of the total cost of the submitted plan or $75,000. A group that gets a grant cannot get another grant under this program for the next five fiscal years. Congress authorized $10,000,000 for the program, and that money is available until spent. This rule takes effect when the law is enacted.
