Brain health study for military aviators
If enacted, the VA would run a long-term study on how high-G flight affects brain and mental health in military aviators. The VA would set up a central, anonymized registry with voluntary data, including flight hours, G-force profiles, and health outcomes, with follow-up over time. The Secretary would consult with DoD, the military Surgeons General, the Defense Health Agency, and medical experts. An interim report to Congress would be due within 1 year of enactment, and a final report within 3 years. It would apply to veterans who were designated pilots or aircrew on high-performance aircraft and regularly faced sustained or repeated G-forces.
