Medicare rules for clinics using physician assistants or nurse practitioners
If enacted, this bill would change Medicare rules for some clinics. Starting January 1, 2027, clinics that are not physician-directed would need an arrangement, consistent with state and local law, with one or more physician assistants or nurse practitioners. Care under that arrangement would have to follow state rules for PA or NP practice. If you have Medicare and use these clinics, you could keep or gain access to care. This mainly sets requirements for clinics, not direct payments to patients.
