Summary
mental health outreach for veterans. This bill would require the Department of Veterans Affairs to create a patient outreach system so enrolled veterans who experience a traumatic or highly stressful event can opt to receive information and resources about mental health care. The VA would coordinate the system with the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program and must establish the system within two years of enactment.

Opt-in VA mental health outreach for veterans
This bill would require the VA to set up a new patient outreach system within two years of enactment. Veterans enrolled in VA health care who had a traumatic or very stressful event could choose to get mental health information and referrals. It would be opt-in only. The VA would seek to coordinate this with the Defense Department’s Transition Assistance Program.
