Public CHAMPVA provider list for beneficiaries
If enacted, the VA would require each entity that runs a VA provider network to ask each provider once a year if they accept CHAMPVA assignment. Those entities would send the answers to the VA. Using those answers and other data, the VA would create and keep a public directory of network providers that accept CHAMPVA. The first queries and results must be submitted within 90 days of enactment. The first public directory must be available within 180 days of enactment. The VA would report to Congress within one year and then once a year for four more years. Reports would show, by State and by VISN, the number and percent of providers that accept CHAMPVA and any areas with CHAMPVA beneficiaries but no providers that accept assignments. The bill defines "accept assignment" as agreeing to accept the CHAMPVA allowable amount as full payment for services.
