HR6536119th Congress

Rural Depositories Revitalization Study Act

Sponsored By: Representative Norman

In Committee

Summary

A joint federal study to revive rural depository institutions. This bill would require the Federal banking agencies — the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation — to jointly study ways to improve the growth, capital adequacy, and profitability of depository institutions that primarily serve rural areas. The study must identify Federal statutes or agency regulations, other than appropriations laws, that limit those methods or the creation of new rural depository institutions. The agencies must deliver a report to Congress with findings and recommendations within one year.
