Introduced
Summary
Clarify which graduate programs count as professional degrees for Federal student aid. This bill would tie the professional-degree definition in the Higher Education Act to the Code of Federal Regulations as of enactment and explicitly add several degrees such as nursing (A.D.N., R.N., B.S.N.), physical therapy (D.P.T.), occupational therapy (M.O.T.), social work (M.S.W.), accounting (M.Acc.), architecture (M.Arch.), public health (M.P.H.), and multiple education and music master’s degrees.

More federal student aid for certain degrees
If enacted, this bill would change how the phrase "professional degree" is defined for federal student aid. It would tie that term to the Department of Education's 34 C.F.R. §668.2 definition as in effect on the bill's enactment date. It would also explicitly include these degrees for Title IV purposes: Nursing (A.D.N., R.N., or B.S.N.); Occupational Therapy (M.O.T.); Physical Therapy (D.P.T.); Social Work (M.S.W.); Accounting (M.Acc); Architecture (M.Arch.); Special and Secondary Education (M.Ed., M.S.Ed., or M.A.T.); Music Education (M.S. or M.M.E.); World Languages (M.Ed.); and Public Health (M.P.H.). The change would apply where federal student aid rules use the term "professional degree" and would take effect on enactment.
