More food aid for rural and Tribal areas

If enacted, states would receive $25,000,000 each year from 2026 through 2030 for Emergency Food Assistance infrastructure grants. The bill would make the State agency named in each State plan the grant administrator and let grants go to nonprofits, Tribal governments, and other government entities. Grants would pay for renovating storage, buying USDA and other food supplies, expanding mobile and home delivery, and doing outreach studies. Grants would limit administrative costs to 10 percent and would take effect on enactment.

Study on cold storage for food banks

If enacted, the Secretary of Agriculture would study shortages of refrigerated and frozen storage space and refrigerated trucks for emergency food organizations. The report would estimate national costs to buy new coolers, freezers, refrigerated and dry trucks, and trailers. The study would be due not later than two years after enactment. Congress would provide $1,000,000 to carry out the study.
