Repeal of a 2015 defense rule
If enacted, this bill would repeal section 3092 of the Carl Levin and Howard P. "Buck" McKeon National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015 (Public Law 113-291; 128 Stat. 3870). The repeal would take effect on enactment and would remove whatever authorities, restrictions, or provisions that specific section created.
Land trust for Las Vegas Tribe
If enacted, about 3,156 acres of BLM land (as shown on the map dated November 14, 2024) would be taken into trust for the Las Vegas Tribe of Paiute Indians. That land would become part of the Tribe's reservation, subject to valid existing rights. The Tribe would have to grant a roughly 300-foot-wide right-of-way to a qualified electric utility within 30 days for high-voltage transmission lines. The Interior Secretary would be required to finish a boundary survey within 180 days. Class II and Class III gaming would be banned on the land. The bill would not decide federal reserved water rights, and the Tribe would keep any state-law water claims. Nothing here would change the March 2021 agreement with the City of Las Vegas.
