Summary
Expands VA burial allowance to veterans who die at home while receiving VA hospice care. This bill would allow a burial allowance when a veteran dies at home or another non‑hospital setting while in hospice care furnished under 38 U.S.C. 1717(a), as long as that hospice care was directly preceded by VA hospital care or VA nursing home care described in current law.

Burial help for veterans dying at home
This bill would expand who can get a VA burial allowance. You would be able to apply if the veteran died at home or another non-institutional setting while receiving VA hospice care under 38 U.S.C. 1717(a). That hospice care must have been directly preceded by VA hospital care or VA nursing home care described in law. Survivors or families would be eligible to apply for the one-time burial payment. The change would take effect as if included in Public Law 116-315 (the 2020 veterans law).
