Driftless Area farmers get conservation help
If enacted, the Secretary of Agriculture would establish a Driftless Area Landscape Conservation Initiative. The initiative would give producers and grassroots partnerships financial help, technical help, and easement payments. It would fund practices like year-round ground cover, woodland and prairie restoration, and cold-water stream and bank restoration to reduce erosion and improve trout habitat. The program would get $5,000,000 each year for fiscal years 2027 through 2031. It would end on September 30, 2031.
