Soil health training for NRCS and partners. This bill would create a national training program to teach Natural Resources Conservation Service staff and third-party providers the science and practices of soil biology and regenerative farming.

  • Curriculum must cover tribal issues, traditional ecological knowledge, and the needs of new and underserved producers.

Soil health training for farmers

This bill would require the Agriculture Secretary to set up a Soil Health Training Program at the Natural Resources Conservation Service within one year. The program would include a national online curriculum and in-person workshops in each Service region twice every two years. The Secretary would make cooperative agreements with universities, nonprofits, farm groups, and other experts and enter initial agreements within one year. NRCS staff and approved third-party providers would be encouraged to complete training and required to give soil health materials to producers. The bill would authorize $10,000,000 to carry out the program for fiscal years 2027 through 2032.
