Introduced
Summary
Agent Orange Veterans Service Medal would establish a commemorative military award for veterans tied to herbicide exposure or related VA compensation. The Department of Defense would design and produce the medal. Eligible veterans would include those receiving compensation under 38 U.S.C. sections 1116, 1116A, or 1116B and Vietnam-era herbicide-exposed veterans as defined in 38 U.S.C. 1710(e). The medal would be issued at the request of a qualified individual certified by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. For deceased veterans the Department of Defense may provide the medal to the next of kin and the bill requires an application process for veterans and next-of-kin.
