End Medicare and Medicaid pilot authority
If enacted, the bill would abolish the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI). It would repeal Section 1115A of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1315a) and remove CMMI's authority to run Medicare and Medicaid demonstration projects. Because that authority would be removed, existing demonstration projects could end and future CMMI initiatives would stop. Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries, health care providers, and state Medicaid agencies would be most directly affected. The bill does not create a replacement program or set transition rules.
