Small business help for Pacific territories
If enacted, the SBA would create an 8(a)-style assistance program just for small businesses in Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands. The Administrator would not be allowed to impose any net-worth eligibility requirements. To qualify, a business would need its main office in one of those territories, at least 51% owned (or 51% of stock) by territory residents, and daily management controlled by territory residents. Owners would also need to show they were Pacific territories residents for the 10 years before receiving assistance.
