Move TSA into Transportation Department
If enacted, this bill would move the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) into the Department of Transportation. The Secretary of Transportation would exercise TSA's functions and authorities. The Office of Management and Budget would set the timing to transfer staff, property, records, and unspent funds. Existing orders, rules, contracts, pending cases, and appropriations would remain in effect unless properly changed. The bill would keep TSA as a distinct entity inside DOT and would repeal section 424 of the Homeland Security Act.
