More PTSD treatment access for Veterans
If enacted, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs would be required to furnish stellate ganglion block (SGB) to veterans enrolled in the VA patient enrollment system who have been diagnosed with PTSD. Veterans would be able to elect SGB only after a qualified health care provider informs them of the risks and benefits. The VA could provide SGB at VA medical facilities or through outside providers authorized under 38 U.S.C. 1703(c). The bill would require the VA/DoD PTSD clinical guideline to be updated within 180 days to list SGB as an option and to describe clinical indicators and contraindications. The amendment would take effect 180 days after enactment, and the Secretary would notify the House and Senate Veterans' Affairs Committees after updating the guideline.
