Summary
Creates a one-year post-employment ban for former U.S. attorneys. This bill would bar any former attorney for the United States from knowingly representing, aiding, or assisting a business entity in a federal prosecution or in an agreement under 18 U.S.C. §3161(h)(2) if, while serving, the attorney personally and substantially participated in that prosecution or agreement. The term "business entity" covers corporations, associations, partnerships, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships, and other legal commercial entities. Violations would be punishable under 18 U.S.C. §216.

One-year ban for former DOJ attorneys
If enacted, this bill would bar certain former U.S. attorneys from representing businesses in related federal matters for one year. It would apply when, while serving, the attorney personally and substantially participated in a federal prosecution of the business or in an agreement under 18 U.S.C. §3161(h)(2). For one year after leaving federal service, the former attorney would be prohibited from knowingly representing, aiding, or assisting that same business in any federal prosecution or in any agreement under §3161(h)(2). "Business entity" would include corporations, partnerships, LLCs, LLPs, and similar commercial legal entities. Violations would be punishable as provided in 18 U.S.C. §216. The rule would take effect upon enactment if the bill becomes law.
