States must prioritize unemployment loan repayment
If enacted, the bill would require States to use certain federal funds to repay any outstanding section 1201 unemployment advances before any other use. States would have five business days after the funds become available to make that repayment. If the Secretary determines a State violated this requirement, the State would be required, within five business days of that determination, to pay the Federal Government an amount equal to the full amount of the funds. The rule would apply to funds awarded on or after the date of enactment.
