New Northern Mariana worker permits
If enacted, this bill would change worker permit rules in the Northern Mariana Islands. Commonwealth Only Worker permits would be valid for up to 1 year and could be renewed for additional 1-year periods. A narrow group of long-term transitional workers admitted in fiscal year 2015 and in two of fiscal years 2016, 2017, 2018, or 2019 would be eligible for up to 3-year admissions and 3-year renewals. Any multi-year permit would count against the applicable annual numerical cap for each fiscal year it covers, and the changes would take effect as if included in the enactment of Public Law 115-218.
