Analyzed Economic Effects
2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
Move nuclear forensics to NNSA
If enacted, this bill would create a National Nuclear Forensics Center inside the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). The Center would coordinate federal nuclear forensics and attribution activities and be the statutory successor to the prior DHS center. The bill would also repeal the old Nuclear Forensics and Attribution Act and treat legal references to the DHS center as references to the new NNSA Center.
Add nuclear forensics to NNSA university program
If enacted, the NNSA Administrator would be required to develop and implement a plan, within one year of enactment, to modify the NNSA university program (under 10 U.S.C. §6338) to include development of nuclear forensics expertise. Students in that program would get training to support Department of Energy defense and national security science and engineering. The plan must be developed and started not later than one year after the bill becomes law.
