Voluntary electronic filing for aircraft repairs
If enacted, the FAA would modernize and expand electronic filing for FAA Form 337 so authorized filers could choose to submit it digitally. Within 12 months after enactment, the FAA would, where technically feasible, make secure APIs available for third-party software to integrate with Form 337 filing systems. Use of the FAA electronic system and third-party interfaces would be voluntary and could not add new certification, reporting, audit, equipment, or recordkeeping requirements. The FAA would have to include authentication, access controls, data-integrity and cybersecurity protections, and limit collection and retention of personal data to what is needed. The FAA would not make personally identifiable information public except as required by law and could not use the data for commercial solicitation, surveillance, or profiling.
