Faster advanced manufacturing for defense suppliers
If enacted, the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment would have to send the required advanced manufacturing plan within 180 days to the collaborative forum, the Defense Logistics Agency, and congressional defense committees. The collaborative forum would form a working group to find or develop advanced manufacturing solutions to raise production of critical readiness supply items. The working group would aim to ensure those items enter production within 24 months of its start. The Director of the Defense Logistics Agency would mark items identified as critical readiness items on the No Bid Solicitation List within 60 days of receiving the plan. The bill would also define the No Bid Solicitation List and use the definition of "covered system" from 10 U.S.C. 4324 for this Act.
