Summer EBT required for school lunch
This bill would make Summer EBT participation optional for summers 2024, 2025, and 2026. Beginning with summer 2027, States that run the National School Lunch Program would have to run Summer EBT, and covered Indian Tribal organizations could run it if they participate in school lunch or elect to. Starting in 2027, States wishing to run or required to run Summer EBT would need to tell the Secretary by January 1 each year and send a management and administration plan by February 15 for approval. The plan must include the items listed in subparagraphs (A) through (F) of the statute.
