HR9360119th Congress

Advisory Committee on the Records of Congress Sunset Act

Sponsored By: Representative Miller, Mary E. [R-IL-15]

Introduced

Summary

Ends the Advisory Committee on the Records of Congress and replaces it with annual reporting and review requirements. This bill would strike Chapter 27 from Title 44 and terminate the statutory Advisory Committee, with the change taking effect 60 days after enactment. Beginning the year after enactment, the Director of the Center for Legislative Archives would submit a yearly report by February 1 on the management and preservation of congressional records to the Archivist, the Secretary of the Senate, the Clerk of the House, and designated House and Senate committees. The Archivist, the Secretary, and the Clerk would meet to review that report within 60 days and must meet within 180 days after a new Archivist, Secretary, or Clerk assumes duties. The text does not authorize new funding.
