Protect VA Benefits for Veterans Using Marijuana
If enacted, you would not lose any VA benefit just because you take part in a State-approved marijuana program. This would bar the VA from denying benefits on that sole basis, notwithstanding other laws. If you live in a State with an approved program, VA doctors could give you recommendations about using marijuana. For veterans enrolled in VA's patient enrollment system, VHA providers would discuss your marijuana use and could adjust your treatment plan. They must record any such marijuana use in your VA medical record. The bill would use federal definitions of "marijuana" and "State."
