Study to improve 988 call location
This bill would require the FCC to start a public inquiry within 270 days of enactment. The inquiry would study problems sending location data, including dispatchable location, with 988 suicide lifeline calls. The FCC would be asked to consider legal authority, privacy protections, technical standards, costs and cost recovery, and issues for ASL and video-relay callers. The Government Accountability Office would also have 180 days to study similar issues and consult many stakeholders.
