More child care and preschool funding
If enacted, the government would provide extra funding for child care and early education through fiscal year 2029. It would add $25.5 billion for the Child Care and Development Block Grant and $20 billion for the Child Care Entitlement to States. It would add $24 billion for Head Start and $500 million for Preschool Development Grants. The funds would be in addition to amounts already available and drawn from Treasury funds not otherwise appropriated. States and Head Start programs would use the money under existing program rules, so only families who meet program eligibility would get direct help.
Rescind $70 billion in border funds
If enacted, the bill would rescind $70 billion of unused funds provided by the Secure America Act for U.S. Customs and Border Protection and ICE. The rescission would apply only to amounts from that law that remain unobligated on the date of enactment. Those funds would return to the U.S. Treasury and would reduce previously authorized agency funding. This change would affect agency budgets rather than create direct payments to households.
