Cybersecurity training for rural hospitals
If enacted, the bill would require HHS to produce a rural hospital cybersecurity workforce strategy not later than 1 year after enactment. The plan would be developed with CISA, the Secretaries of Education and Labor, the National Cyber Director, other agencies, and at least two rural health provider representatives from each of the 9 Census geographic divisions. The strategy would cover partnerships, school and community-college curricula, and common workforce challenges and mitigation practices. HHS would also have to publish free cybersecurity training materials on its website within 1 year and run an outreach campaign to tell rural hospitals about them.
No new funding for this Act
If enacted, the bill would state that no additional funds are authorized to be appropriated to carry out this Act. That means required planning, materials, and briefings would need to be done using existing agency funds or by separate congressional appropriations.
