Myositis refers to rare, chronic autoimmune muscle‑wasting diseases that cause pain, fatigue, trouble swallowing and can shorten life expectancy in some cases, and the resolution lists types such as dermatomyositis and inclusion body myositis, notes delayed diagnosis, highlights effects on veterans, and urges Americans to learn about and support affected individuals and families.
