This bill would direct the Department of Energy to study whether to create a national strategic propane reserve and how it would operate. The study would examine supply risks, storage locations and sizes, release triggers, market effects, and alternatives to a reserve.

  • Federal planning and timing: DOE, in consultation with the Energy Information Administration, would be required to finish the study within 180 days and then prepare a plan to implement the recommendations within 180 days after the study is completed.
