Srebrenica Genocide Remembrance Act of 2025
Sponsored By: Senator Shaheen, Jeanne [D-NH]
Introduced
Summary
Would designate July 11 as the National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Srebrenica Genocide to honor the more than 8,000 Bosniaks killed in July 1995. It would ask citizens, organizations, and federal, state, and local governments to mark the day with proclamations, activities, and educational efforts to pay tribute to victims' families, condemn the genocide and its denial, promote respect for all ethnic and religious groups, support Bosnia and Herzegovina's territorial integrity, and encourage reconciliation, returns, and education about the genocide.
