Emergency-duty relief for small businesses
If enacted, this bill would exempt goods imported by or for the use of qualifying small business concerns from the emergency duties tied to the national emergency declared on February 1, 2025. The exemption would apply only to duties imposed by Executive Order 14193 (90 Fed. Reg. 9113), as amended by Executive Orders 14197 (90 Fed. Reg. 9183) and 14226 (90 Fed. Reg. 11369). "Small business concern" would mean the definition in section 3 of the Small Business Act (15 U.S.C. 632). If passed, qualifying small businesses would likely pay less on covered imports. The bill text does not specify an effective date or a sunset for the exemption.
