State veterans benefits notices
This bill would direct the Departments of Labor and Veterans Affairs to make a one-page, State-specific notice of veterans benefits. Notices would be completed not later than 270 days after enactment. Each State would get a 45-day period to provide information on benefits under State law for inclusion. Each notice would include the Veterans Crisis Line, how to apply for the listed benefits, and any State benefits provided. Notices would be posted on the Department of Labor and Department of Veterans Affairs websites, be printable on 8.5-by-11 paper, and be reviewed and updated at least twice a year.
Employer posting and outreach for veterans
This bill would require covered employers to post the State veterans benefits notice where employee and applicant notices are customarily displayed. Covered employers are persons engaged in commerce who employ 50 or more employees for each working day during 20 or more calendar workweeks in the current or preceding calendar year. The bill would expressly include persons acting for an employer, successors, public agencies (as defined in the FLSA), the Government Accountability Office, and the Library of Congress as employers. The posting requirement would take effect one year after enactment. Labor and Veterans Affairs would run a 180-day outreach campaign after enactment to inform employers about the notices and the display duty.
