New national AI workforce data
If enacted, the bill would create new, recurring federal surveys to measure how AI affects jobs and work. The Census would add AI questions to its business survey and publish results quarterly for 10 years. The Department of Labor would run a monthly employer survey, an annual household time-use survey, and longitudinal cohorts with new cohorts every 10 years. Labor and Commerce would publish an annual, integrated report using Census and BLS data. The bill would authorize "such sums as may be necessary" to carry out these surveys, with actual spending set later by Congress.
