This bill would expand the advanced manufacturing investment credit (AMIC) to cover semiconductor manufacturing facilities located in outer space. It would set rules about what counts as part of an outer-space facility, define outer space to include low-Earth orbit, and limit eligibility to property placed in service after enactment.

Tax break for U.S. space manufacturers
This bill would let U.S. owners and investors use the advanced manufacturing investment credit for semiconductor facilities in outer space. Outer space would include low-Earth orbit, and property launched from the United States and held by a U.S. person would be eligible. Property used to transport crew, goods, equipment, or supplies would still be treated as part of the facility. Rockets and similar launch vehicles built to propel payloads from Earth would be excluded from eligible property. The rule would apply to property placed in service after the date of enactment.
