If enacted, the bill would treat a servicemember's dependent child who is homeschooled and moving under permanent change of station (PCS) orders as meeting the destination State's compulsory education and homeschooling laws. This would apply if the child follows all homeschooling rules of either the destination State or the servicemember's State of legal residence. The bill would use the definition of "child" from 38 U.S.C. 101. This would reduce paperwork and legal risk for military families who homeschool when they move.
