Published Date: 1/28/2025

Notice

Summary

The FAA is renewing its approval to collect pilot records using both paper and online forms to help employers make smart hiring choices. Starting November 2024, four more operators and 171 pilots will join this system, so the FAA is asking for public feedback on this update. Pilots control who sees their info, and this process helps keep the skies safe without extra costs to pilots.

171 Pilots, 4 Operators Added

The FAA's November 21, 2024 rule will make four additional operators and 171 additional pilots subject to the Pilot Records Database requirements. Those newly covered operators and pilots will be required to have relevant pilot records received and evaluated before an individual begins service as a pilot.

Pilot Control Over Record Releases

The FAA will collect pilot records using paper forms and online web/API uploads, and a pilot's information can only be released to a hiring employer if the pilot first authorizes the release. The collected information is used to help potential employers evaluate pilots during hiring decisions.
