Army Corps Ditches Big Beach Report for Quick Shoreline Check

Published Date: 3/19/2025

Notice

Summary

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is canceling the extra big review they planned for the San Clemente Shoreline Protection Project because the project got smaller and simpler. Instead, they'll do a quicker, lighter check to make sure everything’s still good. This means less paperwork and faster progress for everyone involved, including local communities and government agencies.

SEIS Withdrawn; SEA Instead

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is withdrawing the notice of intent published July 2, 2024 to prepare a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) for the San Clemente Shoreline Protection Project. Because the project scope was reduced and involves fewer impacts, USACE will prepare a supplemental environmental assessment (SEA) instead, which the agency says means less paperwork and faster progress for local communities and government agencies.
