Airbus Wings Get FAA Fastener Fix Mandate with Deadlines

Published Date: 7/21/2025

Rule

Summary

The FAA is updating rules for certain Airbus A350 airplanes to fix a safety issue with wing fasteners. More airplane serial numbers are now included, so more planes need the same fastener replacements and protections as before. Owners should act quickly to keep their planes safe, but these fixes help avoid bigger problems down the line.

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.

Required A350 Wing Fastener Repairs

If you own or operate Airbus A350-941 or A350-1041 airplanes covered by this rule, you must replace affected fasteners and apply additional head nut cap protection at the front and rear spars in the center wing box (CWB). This AD continues the actions required by AD 2022-27-01 to address the unsafe condition on these airplanes.

More A350 Planes Now Covered

The FAA expanded the AD to include additional Airbus A350 manufacturer serial numbers (MSNs), so more A350-941 and A350-1041 airplanes must have the same fastener replacements and head nut cap protections. Owners of the newly included MSNs must comply with the AD actions to address the unsafe condition.
