Summary

The EPA is giving a thumbs-up to Maryland’s plan to shuffle nitrogen oxide pollution limits for big factories that aren’t power plants. This update helps Maryland keep the air cleaner during ozone season by adjusting emission caps and fixing some rule references. If you run a large factory in Maryland, these changes kick in soon and help protect our air without extra costs.

Maryland OKs NOx Caps for Large Facilities

If you operate a large non-electric generating unit (a large factory) in Maryland, the EPA approved Maryland Submittal #24-01 to re-allocate nitrogen oxides (NOx) ozone-season emission caps for those units. The amendment also updates a cross-reference to the Cross State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR) and was approved under the Clean Air Act to help keep Maryland's air cleaner during ozone season.
