Analyzed Economic Effects

5 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 4 mixed.

Sport-pilot Privileges Expanded

You may be allowed to operate more light-sport aircraft and use sport-pilot privileges for flight training, limited aerial work, and personal travel. The final rule expands what aircraft sport pilots may operate and increases those privileges under sport pilot and light-sport aircraft rules.

Rules for Light-Sport Manufacture and Certification Changed

The FAA changed rules for the manufacture, certification, operation, maintenance, and alteration of light-sport aircraft. These changes affect aircraft manufacturers, maintenance providers, and operators by changing how light-sport aircraft are built and certified.

Restricted-Category Special Purpose Operations Amended

The rule amends the special purpose operations for restricted category aircraft. Operators who use restricted-category aircraft for special-purpose missions will see the eligible operations and any related operating rules changed.

Experimental Aircraft Duration and Limits Revised

The FAA amends the duration, eligible purposes, and operating limitations for experimental aircraft. Owners and operators of experimental category aircraft will be subject to changed limits on how long and for what purposes those aircraft may be operated.

Limits for Space-Support Experimental Flights Added

The final rule adds operating limitations for experimental aircraft engaged in space support vehicle flights to codify statutory language. Operators involved in experimental aircraft space-support activities will be subject to the newly codified limitations.
