3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Surveys Support Better Hazard Warnings

Phase II uses online surveys to collect event-based data about public perception and response for four hazards—tornadoes, thunderstorm winds over 70 mph, flash floods, and winter weather—to help the National Weather Service improve warning communications and protect life and property.

Voluntary 10‑Minute Survey Time Burden

NOAA will collect voluntary online Quick Response Surveys from 33,675 individuals; each response averages 10 minutes, producing a total annual burden of 5,613 hours (OMB Control Number 0648-0805). The surveys are collected on occasion and participation is voluntary.

Longitudinal Survey Removed

The collection is revised to remove the longitudinal Weather and Society Survey; the agency states it no longer collects information using the longitudinal surveys.
