TGP Seeks More Pipeline Segments Exemptions

Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) asked PHMSA to add a new 1,347-foot segment and 805 feet of extensions to Special Permit PHMSA-2016-0004, which is active through March 17, 2028. That permit lets TGP deviate from parts of 49 CFR 192.611(a), (d), and 192.619(a) where a pipeline segment changed from a Class 1 to a Class 3 location; the active permit currently covers 162 segments totaling 194,837 feet (about 36.90 miles) and the requested additions would bring the total to 196,989 feet (about 37.31 miles) across KY, LA, MS, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX, and WV.

PHMSA Finds No Significant Environmental Impact

PHMSA reviewed the final environmental assessment (FEA) and found that the proposed expansion of the special permit would not result in significant impacts to the human environment. PHMSA stated the existing FEA and its finding of no significant impact remain adequate under the National Environmental Policy Act and that no further environmental assessment is required for this proposal.
