Temporary ban on targeting Pacific ocean perch

If you operate a trawl limited access sector vessel in the Bering Sea Western Aleutian district, you must stop directed fishing for Pacific ocean perch from 1200 A.l.t. on October 31, 2025 through 2400 A.l.t. on December 31, 2025. The closure is intended to prevent vessels in this sector from exceeding the 2025 directed fishing allowance of 205 metric tons.

Retainable amounts limit during closure

While the closure is in effect (October 31, 2025 at 1200 A.l.t. through December 31, 2025 at 2400 A.l.t.), the maximum retainable amounts specified at Sec. 679.20(e) and (f) apply at any time during a trip. This limits how much Pacific ocean perch vessels may retain as bycatch during trips while the directed fishing prohibition is in place.
