Apply to Shark Science Advisory Panel

You can nominate yourself or someone else to join the SEDAR Pool advisory panel by January 8, 2026. Selected members serve a 5-year term beginning in 2026 and expiring in 2031 and will review scientific data and stock assessment work for Atlantic oceanic sharks.

No Pay; Travel Expense Reimbursement

Members invited to SEDAR workshops will not receive compensation for their time, but they may be reimbursed for travel-related expenses when attending workshops. There is no salary or stipend for SEDAR Pool service.

Workshops Open for Public Observation

All SEDAR stock assessment meetings and workshops are open for public observation. Anyone may observe the stock assessment meetings (including the sandbar shark assessment planned to begin in 2026).

Conflict Rule for Peer Reviewers

Individuals who participated in a data or assessment workshop for a particular stock assessment cannot serve as peer reviewers for that same stock assessment, although they may be asked to attend the review workshop to answer reviewers' questions. This rule is intended to keep peer review unbiased for each stock assessment.
