Rule

Summary

If you own or fly Gulfstream 100, Astra SPX, or 1125 Westwind Astra planes, listen up! Starting January 16, 2026, you’ll need to update your maintenance plans with new safety checks to keep your aircraft flying safely. This change helps prevent problems and keeps everyone on board secure, with no surprise costs mentioned.

Analyzed Economic Effects

4 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 1 mixed.

Mandatory maintenance program revision

If you own or operate Gulfstream 100, Astra SPX, or 1125 Westwind Astra airplanes, you must revise your maintenance or inspection program to add new life limits for the nose landing gear (NLG) actuator-to-strut attachment pins, part numbers 2247.0500.007 and 2247.0500.008. The AD is effective January 16, 2026, and the initial compliance time is at the applicable discard interval or within 3 months after the effective date, whichever occurs later.

Estimated compliance cost per operator

The FAA estimates this AD affects 86 U.S.-registered airplanes and that revising the existing maintenance or inspection program will take an average of 90 work-hours per operator at $85 per hour, for an estimated average total cost of $7,650 per operator.

No alternate inspections without FAA approval

After you revise the maintenance or inspection program as required, you may not use alternative actions or intervals (for example, different inspections) unless you get approval through an Alternative Method of Compliance (AMOC) from the Manager, International Validation Branch, FAA, using the procedures in 14 CFR 39.19.

FAA finds no significant small-entity impact

The FAA certified that this AD will not have a significant economic impact, positive or negative, on a substantial number of small entities under the Regulatory Flexibility Act.
