NSF Seeks Feedback on Innovation Program Data Tracking Renewal

Published Date: 12/17/2025

Notice

Summary

The National Science Foundation (NSF) wants to keep collecting info from folks involved in its Innovation Corps (I-Corps) program to see how well it’s working. They’re asking the public to share thoughts within 30 days before the Office of Management and Budget gives the final thumbs-up. This helps NSF track progress without adding extra costs or delays for participants.

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

NSF Will Use Data to Support Program Evaluation and Funding

NSF will use the collected I-Corps data for planning, management, evaluation, external reports, and for securing future funding to maintain and grow the I-Corps program. The data will support responses to Congress, program evaluations, and efforts to demonstrate program impacts on training, technology translation, innovation ecosystem development, and economic impact.

I-Corps Participants Face Short Survey Burden

NSF will continue periodic data collection from I-Corps teams and their members (Entrepreneurial Lead, Technical Lead/Principal Investigator, and Industry Mentor). The collection covers up to 5,100 participants annually (400 I-Corps teams = 1,200 participants and 13 I-Corps Hubs = 3,900 participants), with a total annual respondent burden of 3,825 hours and no more than 15 minutes of respondent time per instance.
