Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.

Continued Mandatory Paperwork for Grain Elevators

If you own or operate a grain elevator, you must continue to provide notifications, performance tests, periodic reports, and records under the New Source Performance Standards (40 CFR part 60, subpart DD). EPA estimates 254 respondents, a total burden of 584 hours per year, and a total annual paperwork cost of $80,000; the ICR is currently approved through December 31, 2025 and EPA is seeking comments by January 29, 2026.

More Facilities Counted Under the Rule

EPA increased the estimated number of affected grain elevator sources from 200 in the previous ICR to 254 in this ICR, which raises the total paperwork burden for the sector. The agency notes the growth rate of new sources remains zero per year, but the estimated respondent count and associated burden have increased.

No Capital or O&M Costs Required

EPA states there are no annualized capital or operation and maintenance (O&M) costs associated with this information collection request. That means the ICR does not require businesses to buy new equipment or incur ongoing O&M spending as part of this paperwork renewal.
